The Sitar: The instrument and
its technique.
117 pages, softcover. By Manfred Junius.
A good general book on sitar with history, basic exercises, nice pictures
and fun to read. This book is worth the price alone for the very detailed
article on jawari.
68 pages, softcover. This is a very hard to find book in
India but we've managed to get a number of copies. It presents "complete"
ragas in a fixed format to help you learn, talks about developing Alap,
composing taans (runs), etc. Written in India, it takes a little
concentration to follow but it's the best thing around so far if you don't
have a teacher.
A good beginning book for students.
