Rick Henderson, a
disciple of Sarode Maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, is a prominent sarodist.
and currently lives in San Antonio, Texas. He is a wonderful sarode
player and has many accomplishments to his name. His soothing

Henderson, sarodist, is a disciple of Ustads Ali Akbar Khan and Aashish Khan
and has toured and performed throughout the West Coast and southwest Texas.
He has performed in various ensembles, including The New Maihar Band, the
Chitresh Das Dance Company and the groundbreaking world music ensemble,
Ancient Future. Rick has appeared on numerous world music recordings as well
as being a solo artist with Global Pacific Records .His latest recordings
are with world music label Purnima Records in a duet with the well known
Celtic harpist David Michael. He is an active promoter of Indian arts in
south Texas, having organized San Antonio appearances by such notable
artists as Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, Indrajit Banerjee, Gourisankar
Karmakar and Subrata Bhattacharya.
A composer, performer, and teacher, he holds an M.A. in North Indian
Classical Music from Antioch University. Rick, a resident of San Antonio,
Texas, is available to teach North Indian Classical music to both Indian and
western instrumentalists.
