Always
wanting to provide a variety of quality sitars for our customers, we
introduce another Sitars Etc. exclusive: The MKS Nikhil Banerjee (closed)
Jawari Special Angurpata Decoration Sitar, with 8 main strings and upper
bridge. The MKS line of sitars is an
affordable well constructed line of instruments made by a well known Kolkata
manufacturer. We feel that giving our customers choices of makes and models
allows them to select the sitar of their choice.
We asked Monoj Kumar Sardarji to make two very special style of sitars
exclusively for Sitars Etc. And he most certainly did. This
sitar is a Nikhil Banerjee (closed-Bandh) jawari Kharaj Pancham tuning,
eight main strings and upper bridge, with extra large double tumba,
uniquely and richly decorated in the Angurpata style at an affordable price.
The sympathetic string response is fabulous and the sound is sweet with a
long sustain.
About these two new special sitars,
according to Monoj Kumar Sardarji himself, he says, "The
Workmanship and supervision is better than any other type of sitar".
Of the jawari on both of these two new
types of sitars, he says, "My brother Sri Ashok Sardar does the Jawari, and
also plays sitar. He has been doing jawari for the last 20 years."

And as with all our
other sitars, very nice inlay and rich, maroon penwork carefully done
by expert craftsmen. The penwork compliments
the deep red wood tones of the instrument. The neck or Danda is 3
3/4 inches wide. The French polish finish, which is exceptionally done,
rounds out this exceptional sitar.
The shine is mirror like. |
