Srishti "Standard"

Please note that we have Standards with colored penwork in the golden wood tones in limited numbers.  We will probably never have these again, so if you like the colored penwork on the inlays, take advantage of this limited supply of Srishti Standards.

This model comes in the "golden" tones of the Srishti sitars as well as dark toned and dark toned with colored penwork.  These are hand made in India and we cannot always predict the wood tones we will be getting. If you have a preference, please state it in your order.

In response to a great demand for a quality sitar at an affordable price we are happy to present the Srishti Standard model. When you compare it to other models costing much more you'll see that there's nothing standard about it!! A new standard for an affordable sitar without compromise in quality.....

The Srishti Standard concert model sitar is made of the finest available tun wood and carved in one of the traditional styles of Calcutta, India on the tabli. This design is somewhat similar to our Calcutta traditional model....A quality sitar at a modest price. Sound demo coming soon .....More info about Srishti Musical here..... And as with the other Srishti sitars, very nice inlay and penwork, carefully done by expert craftsmen. It has a very full bodied sound which is quite rare in a mid-range sitar.

standard with tumba on Nicely carved Rosewood pegs, carefully fitted and chalked with deer horn end pieces and deer horn tuning beads. All other parts are deer horn with the exception of the tail piece/string anchor. Decorations will vary slightly.....    standard name plate

The top tumba is made of spun wood and nicely decorated. Also, it has surprisingly good sound projection giving a nice stereo effect to the player.

The jawari is open and professionally done with 2 slots for the MA (1st) string and optional extra slot for the SA (2nd) at your request. Professional jawari is rarely done on instruments in this price range. The string layout is Ravi Shankar Kharaj Pancham style. All frets finely tuned and fitted in India and double checked at our shop before shipping!  Meend (bending) of 5 to 6 notes is easily accomplished.

A very nice fiberglass case comes standard with the Sitar. Colors will vary on in stock sitars. Our Srishti Standard comes with a accessory set of spare generic strings, 3 mizrabs, fret thread and a tarab string hook.

All Srishti sitars are monitored during the entire building process and fine-tuned by expert musicians in India before being air-shipped to our shop. Once at our shop they are played by us for an additional several hours before being offered for sale. The Standard model is a great entry level full decoration sitar that will last you many years. Note: Srishti Standard sitars are available in two colors, the standard Srishti "Golden" color and in dark wood tones  with color or maroon penwork.  Please specify choice when ordering.  We will try to send your choice.  Please be aware that we don't always get both types in and we may only have one or the other in stock.  We can get them by special order.  They both have the extraordinary sound that the Srishti Standard sitar in known for. 

They are both exactly the same sitar - the finish is the only difference.

Due to the rise of the Rupee, we are being forced to raise our prices.  As soon as the Rupee returns to normal we will return to our normal pricing.
