Hiren Roy is perhaps the most well known of the shops from Calcutta, India. Aged instruments of Hiren Roy are still one of the preferred choices among professional musicians. The shop continues to make sitars in limited quantities under the youngest son, Barun Roy. The focus is on sound which generally has a dark quality to it and more suited to those playing in the style of Nikhil Banerjee especially. The  construction and jawari has been monitored and done in conjunction with our partner in Calcutta. A very fine instrument!

The Hiren Roy tun concert model sitar is made of the finest available aged Indian mahogany and carved in a popular traditional style of Calcutta.
