Srishti "Rose Petal" (Gulabpata)
Tun ~ Mahogany Concert Sitar
Srishti
is a leading maker from Calcutta,
India specializing only in professional Indian instruments, sitars in particular.
Srishti is Sanskrit for "Creation".... For some
time now Calcutta has been the center of modern Indian Classical music and
instruments. Many notable makers have come from here such as Hiren Roy,
Hemen Sen, and other relative newcomers such as
Mangla Prasad Sharma and others, such
as Monoj Kumar Sardar and the new Kanai Lal.
The pictures on this page do not do
the sitar justice. This is a most beautiful sitar and the finish
is superb.
The Srishti tun
Rose Petal (Gulabpata) concert model sitar is made of the finest available Indian mahogany and
carved with unique rose design on the tabli and other
carvings and decorations..
Beautiful inlay and single color
penwork, carefully done combined with special inlay designs on the
headstock.
Nicely carved pegs, carefully fitted and
chalked with deer horn end pieces and deer horn tuning beads. All other parts are
deer horn including the langot.
The top tumba is equally as decorated
as the sitar and made of natural gourd.
The jawari is slightly open and professionally. The string layout is Ravi Shankar Kharaj
Pancham style. All frets finely tuned and fitted in India and double
checked at our shop before shipping! Meend (bending) of 5 to 6
notes is easily accomplished.
