We, at Sitars Etc., are very pleased to present sitars selected by musicians from Pune, and manufactured in Maharashtra exclusively made for Sitars Etc. by a famous and admired sitar maker from Maharashrta. They have named the sitars being made for Sitars Etc. exclusively, "Su Gita" - Meaning "Auspicious Melody (Song)" We here at Sitars Etc. are very honored and grateful for this opportunity to bring these beautiful sitars from Maharashtra to Musicians, Sitar Fans, and the public in general. The Su Gita instruments are beautiful, and professional sitars in the Kharaj Pancham style, in this first offering. Later, we will be able to offer Gandhar Pancham style sitars as well. We are very lucky to have a musician from Pune who is working with us to select only the very best, and be able to bring you these Su Gita sitars. The finish on these instruments is very rich, in a walnut like finish, mirror like, done in the French polish method, the sitars haves a professional appearance and glossy shine. Definitely a concert instrument in every respect, with a lot of attention to Detail. The instrument is a work of art, but it would be worth it just for the rich sound produced by these sitars.

The slight curve in the neck on these sitars is an innovation in order to improve the ability of the sitarist to pull meends. It is the most recent innovation in sitars as of late. These sitars also sound louder and sweeter, with the sympathetic strings resounding loudly.

The Su Gita Traditional Maharashtra, Tun, Half- Decoration, concert model sitar is made of the finest available tun (Indian mahogany) wood. carved in the traditional style on the tabli. The design has been very popular for the last 50 years....It is a larger sitar, slightly wider tabli and deeper bottom gourd, and very large upper gourd, and a fantastic Professional Open sound! A very responsive instrument with excellent tarab (sympathetic) strings response.

The Su Gita Traditional tun offers beautiful unique Penwork with a scalloped design running the length of the neck! Carefully done by expert craftsmen in a pink and blue floral design. The penwork compliments the French polish finish which is expertly done on this instrument in a elegant deep red finish. One of the best features of this sitar from Maharashtra is the very thick and big frets with very high curves allowing for very easy meends of more than 6 notes.


	Nicely carved Rosewood pegs, carefully fitted and chalked with bone centerpieces and bone tuning beads. Also, at the top of the neck there is a special emphasis on the inlay creating a beautiful niche. On some Su Gita sitars on the neck opposite the pegs you will see an old innovation brought back to life, an anti-rollover foot, which adds a nice touch to the uniqueness of this type of sitar. Other Su Gita sitars have a carving on the back of the top of the neck. The label clearly states the Su Gita Brand Name a Sitars Etc. exclusive. These sitars will not be available anywhere else..
	This Su Gita sitar comes with a very large upper tumba. Which is decorated expertly. The upper tumba yoke screws are hidden in a very unique way as to provide an aesthetically improved appearance to the back of the upper danda (neck). The tumba is decorated to match the rest of the carving and penwork of the sitar.


	The jawari is open in the Ravi Shankar style and professionally done The string layout is the Kharaj Pancham style, with the deep bass strings. All frets finely tuned and fitted in India and double checked at our shop before shipping! Meend (bending) of 5 to 6 notes is easily accomplished.


	A fiberglass case comes standard with the Su Gita traditional. Colors will vary on in stock sitars. The Su Gita sitars also come with a carrying case for the upper tumba. If we are out of stock and you pre-order then you have the option to choose your case color. Also, all our Su Gita come with accessories that include: a book of your choice, a fabric cover, an oil box, 3 mizrabs, and a set of extra strings!

All Su Gita sitars are monitored during the entire building process and fine-tuned by expert musicians in India before being air-shipped to our shop. Once at our shop they are played by us for an additional several hours before being offered for sale. We believe these to be the finest new sitars available and want you to be completely satisfied with your instrument!!
